Now imagine you wake up and everything you love about your routine is gone. Lost. No furniture, food, clothes, cars, entertainment, and whatever else created your comfort. Remnants of what life was before. Like many others, I am blessed. The epiphany that many women who enjoyed that routine as much as I do, no longer having that ability was heartbreaking, it motivated me to leap into action. To help. Thankfully, many people have come together to donate food, clothes, toiletries, and physical help. It has been so incredible watching this city come together and display a community agenda.
I created and hosted an event called “In Beauty We Unite” which was for people like me who have influence in the industry and receive countless amounts of all the best beauty products. I reached out to all my industry peers and together we donated an insane amount of products, creating bags to hand deliver to those who have lost everything in this tragic storm.
The appreciation I’ve received from women is tantamount. For some, it may seem frivolous, but to many it is a glimpse of their old life before the storm. From the first swipe of lipstick you can see their face light up and a feeling that through all the ugliness they’re confident they will get through it.
