in Comparison

Sisterfriends,

Just recently, I’ve acknowledged that I’ve been making the biggest faux pas in social media: I’ve been comparing myself, my business, my God-given vision to others. Everyone from my ultra awesome tribe to accounts that have or have not put in the work to reach monumental business goals. Social media can be a beast!

Honestly, it has taken me through a process of self-doubt, blurred vision and anxiety. It took my focus off of the power and guidance of Grace and highlighted, amplified my weaknesses.  As I was in and out of listening to Wes Hendrix, the pastor of my local church, a couple of Sundays ago, my ears perked up and I tuned in when I heard him say “Everything you need and have been asking for is right in front of you but you can’t see it because you’re looking at someone else’s provision.” I think I did a Scooby-Doo Rrrrugh. I’d been asking God for the next step, but so frustrated that my end goals didn’t look like those in comparison. Totally missing His directive. Then to add honey to sugar (I just made that up) I was listening to an associate pastor Michael Smith speak about following the Holy Spirit’s blueprint for your vision. God’s plan.

So I chilled…off of social media. In going back on, I decided not look at anyone else’s numbers but to stay focused on the blueprint constructed for my purpose.

“We won’t dare to place ourselves in the same league or to compare ourselves with some of those who are promoting themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they have no understanding.” 2 Corinthians 10:12

I received an understanding of this scripture from my Senior Pastor, Creflo A. Dollar and I’m not here to demean anyone’s actions or thought process. My aim is to share my understanding. We all have a vision and purpose specifically designed for us. It is divisive and destructive to compare your growth, decisions, your vision to another. We all have different blueprints. We will all finish the race differently. The only benefit we have in common is the availability of Grace to lead and guide.
