Cold weather months can do one of two things, cause you to sleep the days away or turn them into the most productive time of the year.In my industry, the beginning of the year re-energizes people to do what they have put off all Summer and Fall. It’s TAX SEASON and REFUND TIME! Let’s redecorate! New furnishings are at the top of the list. You can purchase that new sectional you’ve been eyeing for months, or a new king size upholstered tufted headboard, 60″ Smart TV just in time for March Madness.
Where do we start? My personal preference is home furnishings that are COMFORTABLE! When I sit or lay on it, I want to sink into them. Get my favorite throw, cuddle up and not have to move for hours. Long enough to binge on my favorite Netflix, Hulu or Amazon playlist. 
When I design someone else’s space and I’m researching and resourcing furniture and accessories, I always put myself in the design. Microfiber is a favorite fabric of mine for two reasons. The first is because it is soft to the touch and two it’s easy to maintain. If anything spills on it, it’ll bead up and you can just wipe it off with a damp cloth. It has the look and feel of suede without the high maintenance. Sectionals can have many configurations to suit any room or space. I tend to select accent pillows with different textures, faux fur, metallics, and patterns.
Different sizes and textures soften the look of a sofa, toss an accented colored throw and you’ll want to curl up in it with a good book. Settee and love seats are perfect pieces to cuddle up. Beds decorated with layered bedding makes the bed appealing.
Here’s how you’d make a bed that you never want to leave. Starting from the bottom up. Bed skirt, mattress cover, linen, standard pillows, euro pillows, blanket, duvet comforter, layer another comforter on top fold it back, add a throw on top and add differently textured throw pillows to accent.
