Sisterfriends,
If you ask anyone who knew me 20 years ago, they would tell you that for every weird situation that presented itself, I would exclaim that sounds like a set-up! most of the time, I was joking, but progressively I began to see how having this perspective changed the way I made decisions, what and who I allowed myself to be exposed to. I began to learn that all my thoughts didn’t deserve the same amount of attention. Just because I had a thought or suggestion trying to occupy my mental space didn’t mean I had to give in to it. Thoughts of wondering whether I was good, worthy or acceptable based on comparisons or standards that made up my experiences was not and isn’t healthy. Before my spiritual journey began those experiences were my guideposts for life. Decisions of weight would be made accordingly.
In searching for truth, I was guided to the understanding of who and what is for and against me. I started to understand that I/we have a common adversary and advocate. This adversary is the nucleus of negativity. It’s one and only objective is to bombard us with despair and uncertainty. To set us up for failure. Interestingly enough, it employs us against us. Dressed up as self-sabotage, we can be our own worst enemy by co-signing these shenanigans. Have you ever heard the expression, you don’t have to believe every thought you have? Nothing can be activated without our consent. That is our power.
Grace, our advocate, sets us up for success. We have access to clarity, wisdom and consistent guidance through the traps of self-sabotage. When negative thoughts seem to have the upperhand, It is promised that we have a sound mind and its benefits. One of the best weapons we have to use in our defense, but it must be employed at all times. We all have experiences that we can recall where we defeated the full force of negativity aimed in our direction. We not only have to surround ourselves with positive thoughts but with concrete evidence of past positive experiences.
It is our lifesaver.
