watch your mouth

Sisterfriends,

“Watch Your Mouth!” was a common phrase my parents forewarned. was a hot-head with a sharp, sarcastic mouth well into my adulthood. Growing up, the “Watch your mouth” admonishment turned into my foreboding “Don’t get your feelings hurt!” Words are extremely powerful! It is the strongest form of communication outside of physical action {You know, Actions speak louder than words}. We read and hear words of encouragement, detraction or ridicule. Our interactions with others depend heavily on our verbal communication. It is of utmost importance to “Watch your mouth”.

Experience is a great teacher, especially when you make the connection between the words you’ve spoken and the outcome they’ve produced. I’ve learned the trajectory of my words when I’ve said, “Oh I can’t”, “It’s not enough”, “Let’s do it!” People who care about you, express “Take my word for it, learn from my experience.” I find it interesting that we as humans tend to use words so frivolously, reckless even. On several occasions, I’ve had to stop myself from speaking deprecating words and quickly replace them with edifying ones, to myself and to others. I’ve learned that the words I speak can propel me forward, cement me where I stand or bury me alive.

Now, if you’ve been reading my letters or even if this is the first one, Grace is weaved all throughout. How so? In this instance what stops me, when I allow Him to stop me is Grace. It’s Grace whispering “Don’t say that! or “What positive words can you use?” It’s Grace saying “I’ve shown you how and what to speak to move you into the life you dream of.” It’s Grace saying “Don’t listen to those words of defeat, discontentment, jealousy, and despair listen to this: you’re loved, you are a fighter, you are a winner, you’re accepted, you got this and I got you!” I challenge you! Take inventory of what you say and allow Grace to escort you into successful relationships, dreams into achievement, the Good Life! It all starts with the mind and the words we feed it.
